Cabinet Painting

A new color on the cabinets you already trust.

Overview

When the boxes are solid and the layout still works, a good finish can change how a kitchen feels. Cabinet painting was one of the first things we did when the business grew out of furniture refinishing, and we have been doing it since 2000.

We don't brush a coat over what's there and leave. Surfaces are sanded, primed and then finished with no-VOC acrylic finishes, so the paint has a properly prepared surface to bond to.

What's involved

  • Sanding and surface preparation
  • Priming before color
  • No-VOC acrylic finishes
  • Optional soft-close and storage upgrades

Good fit for

Homeowners with sound cabinets whose color or wood tone no longer fits the house, and designers who want a specific color without replacing the cabinets.

01.1

Preparation does most of the work

Most of the time goes into what you won't see in the finished kitchen. Sanding gives the finish something to grip, and primer gives the topcoat an even base. Rushing those steps is why some painted cabinets chip or show the old grain through.

01.2

No-VOC acrylic finishes

We use no-VOC acrylic finishes. For many families that matters as much as the color, because the kitchen is the room you go on living in while the work happens.

01.3

Painting plus small upgrades

Painting pairs well with practical changes: soft-close hinges, new hardware, a Rev-A-Shelf pull-out for trash or spices, or a few modified cabinets. If you'd rather change the door style too, look at refacing.

Questions

Cabinet Painting FAQ

More answers on our FAQ page, or just get in touch.

What finish do you use for cabinet painting?

Our painting process includes sanding and priming, followed by no-VOC acrylic finishes.

Can you tell me if my cabinets are good candidates for paint?

Yes. Call or text 704-989-0856 to set up an appointment. We can also start with photos by text or email, or a video call, and tell you whether painting, refacing or new cabinets makes more sense.

Can I add soft-close hinges or pull-outs while you paint?

Yes. Soft-close options and Rev-A-Shelf internals such as trash and spice pull-outs can be added as part of the project.
